The Holiday Party 2013 was a party on Club Penguin. It started on December 18, 2013 and ended on January 2, 2014. The Holiday Party 2013 was the ninth annual Holiday Party and the last party of 2013. Like preceding Holiday Parties, Coins for Change made a return and Rockhopper also made an appearance. Members were able to open their igloos to the Trains Station Igloo list and lead trains by acting as the train conductor through a purchase in the Train Catalog. In addition to the Train Catalog, a special party catalog was also released with extra items to purchase.
History
The party was first hinted at by Spike Hike in an interview in September 2013.[1] It was later confirmed in the first episode of The Spoiler Alert, aired on December 3rd, where it was also revealed that Rockhopper will be visiting the island for the party.[2] On December 5th, new ads were added on Club Penguin that showed more details about the party. A Disney Game On! commercial showed some aspects of the party, like the decorated rooms, the trains and the presents.
On December 4th, Polo Field confirmed on the What's New Blog that Coins For Change is returning for its sixth year.[3] Member players are able to donate coins to ride trains and travel the island. On December 14th, the episode 7 of the second season of Waddle On! was special for the Holiday Party 2013. On this episode, many decorated rooms were shown. On December 16th, on the third episode of The Spoiler Alert, Polo Field and others moderators showed the rooms, the trains and the catalogs that will be available at the party.
In-game development
The stage was first set for the party when Herbert was defeated in Operation: Puffle. He left behind a large amount of stolen coins and penguins across the island did not know what to do with it. It was ultimately decided that the coins would be donated to Coins for Change through the use of trains to transport the coins. Rockhopper's ship, The Migrator, was first seen in the telescope starting December 4th. A week later on December 11th, his ship was seen closer to the Island, with dismantled tracks loaded onto it.
Coins for Change
- See main article, Coins for Change
2013 was Coins For Change's seventh year. It was confirmed on the What's New Blog on December 4 by Polo Field. This year marked the first time that Club Penguin supported ten projects, which were unlocked as players donated coins. Each project also had a free item when unlocked. For the first time ever, members were able to donate to the program by purchasing a train to conduct and ride in, as part of the plan of donating the stolen coins from Herbert. Coins could be collected on the train ride by throwing snowballs at the floating ornaments in the Red, Blue, and Green Lines. Over 25 billion coins were donated this year, breaking the previous record of 13 billion from 2012.

Notes
- The Big Cozy Chair background is obtained through clicking on the camera in the Ski Lodge, which would enable it to take a picture of the penguin and present the player with the opportunity to obtain the background.
- The items in the Coins for Change donation meter were not immediately available at the start of the party. These items were gradually released over the course of the party.
Hidden features
- Throwing a snowball at the tree at the Dock decorated it.
- The tree at the Iceberg "grew" if there were more players in the room.
