The Muppets World Tour was a party on Club Penguin. It started on March 19, 2014 and it ended on April 2, 2014. It was made to sponsor the new Disney film, Muppets Most Wanted, which opened in theaters on March 21, 2014. Before its release, it was mentioned and hinted at a lot by the staff.
History
On January 7, 2014, Polo Field hinted the March party with a tweet on Muppets Most Wanted being "totes awesome".[1] This hinted that CP is maybe going to have a party related to the Muppets Most Wanted movie near the last week of March, when the movie comes out.[2] On Twitter, Spike Hike also asked the users to not ask him anything about Muppets in March because the CP team never tells him anything.[3]
On January 30, Polo Field posted a video about the party on the Portuguese What's New Blog, officially confirming the party.[4] On February 13, a video was posted on Club Penguin account on YouTube, confirming the name of the party and when it will start and end. The video shows an audience with a ninja defeating Scrap and the Muppets (Scooter, Miss Piggy and Kermit) are the judges. On February 18, Polo Field said that there will be "a bunch of different places around the world in it, like France and Brazil".[5] On February 20, a new audience video was released and the candidate was a penguin called "Diva Piggy", who was dressed as Miss Piggy. On February 27, another audience video was released featuring Dubstep Puffle and Animal. In March, Game On revealed the clothes, the catalog, the rooms and that each room will have decorations based on a specific country's culture. The official trailer was released on March 6, showing all the candidates from the previous audiences.
On March 10, Club Penguin posted a sneak peek of the Beach on its Twitter account.[6] On March 13, Polo Field posted on the What's New Blog the time to a Party Meet-Up for Waddle On and the image of the post revealed how the Town is.[7] Polo Field's Twitter Header was updated before the party with a sneak peek of an Airport room. On March 14, it was confirmed that Kermit is going to be a mascot at the party.[8] On March 17, an episode of The Spoiler Alert revealed that penguins will perform a new act with the Muppets and there will be new items everyday. It was also revealed that the final show will start on March 28. On March 18, the rooms were completely shown on an article on the website of the tabloid newspaper Daily Mirror.[9]
In-game development
On March 6, on the issue #437 of the Club Penguin Times, Cadence announced the party and mentioned that the penguins are going to perform with The Muppets during the party. On March 13, in the issue #438 of the Club Penguin Times, Cadence gave tips for the World Tour. They arrived on the island on March 19 and left on April 2.
Features
Players could perform acts with other penguins. Every day, from March 20 to March 27, a new Muppet appeared and a new act was available. Members received a new item to perform the act and all players received a prize after.
The decorated rooms had a "WANTED!" poster with a photo of Constantine; it said that he was last seen in the Museum (the Clothes Shop). If players went there and clicked on the items that were protected in glass, Constantine would appear and give them the Constantine Background, after he had complimented them about stealing. Meanwhile, Kermit the Frog (the most popular and well known Muppet) visited the island and gave players the chance to get his background.
Countries
There were nine rooms decorated with the cultures and landmarks of specific countries. Each room (with the exception of the Plaza) had a Muppet performing an act.
