The Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2013 was a party in Club Penguin. It was the second annual Marvel Super Hero Takeover. It started on April 25, 2013 and ended on May 8, 2013. The Marvel characters Iron Fist, Spider Man, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Nova, Captain Marvel, The Mandarin, Sif, Loki, She-Hulk and War Machine were confirmed characters for the party.

Development

History

It was first confirmed by Spike Hike and Polo Field on their Twitter accounts. On March 28, 2013, Spike Hike posted on What's New Blog, the start date of the party. There will be new heroes, new villains and new places from Marvel Universe. During the Club Penguin Media Summit, event that occurred on April 11, 2013, many sneak peeks were shown to the audience and two new mini-games were confirmed. On April 18, crystals appeared at the Beach, Dock, Snow Forts and Forest, where a special research station was mounted to study the origin of the crystals.

Decorations

The party decorations focuses on the central part of the Club Penguin Island consisting of Town and Plaza and the and southeastern part consisted of Dock and Beach. One main theme of the party is the firefighting theme seen at the Dock and Beach. At the Dock there is the Club Penguin Fire Department (CPFD) and a building in fire and at the Beach there is a hospital for the injured penguins.

On the island, there are several colored crystal which sprouted off the ground. While walking through the urban scenario of Penguintropolis we can see a bank, an antiques shop, a hotel, police department, parking lot, central park, stores, fishmongers and several other scenes.

Features

In the Marvel Catalog, which is available in all the decorated rooms, members can purchase costumes of superheroes or super villains of the Marvel franchise, and non-members can buy other policemen and burglars themed-clothing. As in the previous Marvel Super Hero Takeover, the island is divided in two sides: the superheroes fight against villains to defend the island.

Members can acquire special power gloves. If the players throw a snowball while wearing them, they can destroy buildings around the island. Non-members can buy a special glove which repairs them back. To use these gloves, the players need crystal power. The crystals are obtainable from the Super Hero Bounce game, which is available at the Beach.

On the other hand, villains led by the Ultimate Proto-Bot 10,000 (UP10K), can build robots in the Robot Factory game. Afterwards, they can deploy these robots and destroy the island's property with the crystals' power. The players can easily change their side (good or evil) by pressing a button in the special menus. Also, there is special edition of Club Penguin Times which has been also divided in two sides.
