Below is a council meeting summary for July 28, 2012.

CP Ideas

Through a vote and discussion, we have voted that CP ideas should stay on the CPW. It also has been brought up that if it closes it should move to Fanon instead, which is also an appropriate home for the project.

Vote: Should we keep CP ideas?

For Abstain Against
7 0 1

Wiki translations

The wiki translations project would have added other language pages with a prefix such as "/es" or "/de" to the English Club Penguin Wiki. After our vote, we have deemed that this is unnecessary with other language wikis available for the CPW.

Vote: Should we implement wiki translations?

0 0 7

Define archives

We have several options with our SWF archives. Merge it with a CPWN file pool, or devote more resources to it. After some discussions, most users were supporting "devoting more resources".

Vote: Should archives be re-defined?

For Abstain Against
6 1 1

Image pool

This topic was not clear at the last meeting and the staff meeting ended with an inconclusive result to this. In this meeting, we have decided that we would give the image pool a go after further discussion is done at a proper staff meeting.

Vote: Should we have an image pool?

For Abstain Against
5 2 0

Inter-wiki messages

There is no vote for this, nor was there a discussion. We concluded that it is an essential function and it must be implemented on all wiki across the network.

Monaco as default skin

This topic was brought up before. Currently, we are looking for a skin that would impress visitors. After discussing, Monaco was not the best option due to the fact it's old and outdated. Cp kid also brought up an idea of a widget that would allow us to switch skins easily.

Vote: Where should the skin switcher widget be? FOR = Sidebar. AGAINST = Main page.

For Abstain Against
4 2 1

We also voted on which skin should be default, even if there is a skin switching widget. It is important that the default skin is good looking yet it does not look "rainbow attracting".

Vote: Which skin should we use as default? FOR = Plain Vector. AGAINST = Customized Vector. ABSTAIN = Monaco

Forum Guidelines

The forum guidelines draft has been written and suggestions to changes were to be made at this meeting. However everyone appeared to be happy with it and it passed after a vote.

Vote: Implement the current Forum Guidelines draft into an official policy.

Fanon council

We discussed on if Fanon should have its own council due to the fact the CPW council is having foreign matters in it. We concluded that they would have their own council, but with the fact that a network staffer should be present (apart from the CPFW staffers) to keep an eye on the meeting, and the Fanon must submit a summary of their meeting to the staff for reviewing. The network council will have the right to turn down anything and the network council also has the right to suspend/shut down the Fanon council if it does not go well.

Vote: Should we give Fanon their own council?

For Abstain Against
6 0 1

Repeal Anti-Discrimination Edict (CPFW)

We have skipped this topic. However, due to the fact the Fanon Council proposal was passed, this topic has been transferred to the CPFW Council.

Reinstate Don't Ask, Don't Tell (CPFW)

We have skipped this topic. However, due to the fact the Fanon Council proposal was passed, this topic has been transferred to the CPFW Council.

Abolish Consensus (CPFW)

We have skipped this topic. However, due to the fact the Fanon Council proposal was passed, this topic has been transferred to the CPFW Council.

Wiki banners for websites

Our wiki banners are currently being made and we do not know if the raw image should be on Google Sites (as it won't go down when the CPW goes down) or if it should be on the wiki (can be managed easier). After a vote the majority favored the wiki.

Vote: Should the raw image URL for the banners be on the wiki or on Google Sites? FOR = Google Sites. AGAINST = Wiki.

Party standards

Last time this topic ended with an inconclusive result. This time we have ruled that there is no official party classification for Club Penguin and that this is impossible to conclude. A suggestion is that we look at it by the duration of the party, number of free items and the number of rooms decorated. Another suggestion is that we call it a party whenever Club Penguin refers to it as a party. This topic also ends with a stalemate, although both suggestions may be used to apply to articles.

Partnership

This portion of the council is to select users for the partnership system. Agent Johnson and Boidoh have both volunteered, and Boidoh was given scout while Agent Johnson was given the role of a negotiator.

Projects

The proposal would give the wiki a project such as Wikipedia's WikiProjects. We determined that our wiki is simply not large enough compared to Wikipedia's 4 million articles. There is simply no point in having this except to limit what users should focus on.

Vote: Should we introduce our own "WikiProject"?

New Favicon

Our current favicon is several years old and there has been consensus since 2008 to change it. However, nothing has happened. After several votes, we have determined that we will change our favicon.

Vote: Should we change our favicon?

For Abstain Against
4 3 1

We also determined what our new favicon should be. In the end, a blue puffle was chosen through discussion.

Vote: What should our new favicon be?

  • Penguin: 0 votes
  • Puffle: 5 votes
  • "CP": 0 votes
  • Crab: 1 vote
  • Walrus: 1 vote

Userbars

Also known as "social profile", the Club Penguin Fanon Wiki currently has this feature. It allows users to friend/foe a user, as well as upload avatars. This wiki had it after the move but removed it. Problems we could face with it are immature users causing drama. Through a vote, we decided that an avatar feature will be done, but no friend/foe feature will be added.

Vote: How should we re-introduce social profile? FOR = Friend/Foe. AGAINST = Friend only. ABSTAIN = Avatar only.

Where should our meetings be?

For our first post-agenda topic, we decided that #clubpenguinwiki-policycouncil will be abolished and all meetings will be held on our main channel, #clubpenguinwiki. This topic had little resistance due to the fact there could be old wiki spies. In the end, we have determined that any Wikia CPW users who enter the channel during the meeting will be temporarily kickbanned.

Partnership quota

With Monaco not being our default skin, we will have to limit how many partners we can fit on the main page/sidebar. Through discussion, the verdict is 5 links on the sidebar and 1 banner on the main page, with each rotating every once in a while. There will be no limit on how many partners we can have.

Install Extension:Vector

Tux has been given the green light to install that extension, which would give the network an improved interface. EditWarning, CollapsibleTabs, CollapsibleLeftNav, ExpandableSearch and SimpleSearch will be added.
