An .swf ("Shockwave Flash" or "Small Web Format") file is a flash extension file used by the Club Penguin Team when designing rooms, player cards, penguins, games etc. When you open a .swf room (for example, like this .swf file), no penguins appear, because it is just a local .swf file. Club Penguin is made by Adobe Flash. All penguins in .swf's are the color dark black because it is the default color.

History

• When Club Penguin started, the only .swfs were the rooms.
• There weren't any music .swfs until November or December 2006, because it was bundled with the room .swfs, that's the reason we can't find old music. But they separate into room and music because it loads so slow, but some non-music soundtracks such as water sounds in underwater room or Halloween cinema are part of the room .swf
• I've Been Delayed song is rumored to be a beta testing party music, however, it was added on December 18, 2006 if it can replace the Night Club music as penguins who was in Penguin Chat 3 requested, but however more penguins liked the new music, so they deleted it.
• In the upgrade in July 2008, some music .swfs are added, some are from Asian televisions, like the Taiwan FTV song or Vietnam VTV identity music were added. And some of them like old Thailand TV4 theme still exist on Club Penguin, but some of them are deleted (Most vocal songs are deleted, or the licensed are deleted), the ATV songs then penguins can find so far are TV4 Thailand old theme.
• After the Spanish, French and Portuguese servers came, the .swfs turned into only Spanish, French and Portuguese,barely any .swfs are English now.
• Every .swf has a version for each language. If editing a Spanish .swf, the letters would appear in English. When saving, they will appear Spanish. To get the English words, you would have to delete the other language layers.

Trivia

• The .swf's of the games just show one color, everything else in the game is hidden in the script of the .swf, that tells it to not show a frame unless it is a real game.
• Most .swfs are not deleted, they are updated, like the Town on the map.
