OK then, what happened to CPW on the 16th?

tl;dr: Solus screwed up badly, hurt lots of providers, including one that hosted us**

It all started when localhost.re, a netsec blog, publicized a security vulnerability for SolusVM, a popular management software for controlling VPSes. Later, a script kiddie that had a competing VPS host to our current host, RamNode, had ran the exploit on their servers and had leaked client information and wiped VPSes. After much effort from RamNode, operation has been restored. Some VPSes were either just shut down, down for hours, or completely wiped and needed restoration from backups. We got off lucky, just being down for the day.

We do not tolerate senseless damage like this, and hope he will be tried.

Because of this incident, we will be considering a second VPS for backups.
