Council

Look, this is just dumb. If we're going to regularly doing this kind of thing (we'll see after this trial) then we simply need to convert to the IRC meetings formula. Everybody should be allowed to attend, there are no leaders or admin distinction: we just put in a list of topics and discuss and vote on them at the end of it. Let's see how this turns out though. --Tigernose TalkContribs 16:32, 9 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

And we don't need a new channel... just use our current one and mute it so everyone participating has voice. --Tigernose TalkContribs 16:33, 9 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Club_Penguin Wiki:Policy Making Council Proposal#Vote .28.2B13.29. TN, you're the only one who doesn't agree. I don't see anything wrong with it. If we made it on the main channel, it may turn into a total mess, with people talking nonsense and such. --PenblooeR © 2011 20:23, 9 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ditto PenblooeR. --LordMaster96 00:02, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think we should have a different channel for the meetings- that way people who aren't on the council can still chat as usual. I don't see the point of the "council" in the first place... I agree with TN.

I don't see a point in a "policy-council" only. I see a point in a "council" in general, which I'm hoping to change it into sooner or later. --LordMaster96 02:52, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Partnership with JaysnakeTV

Hey CPW, this if HF from the Fanon wiki. I've recently negotiated a partnership with JaysnakeTV, a Club Penguin YouTuber with about 600 subscribers. The partnership is simple: we advertise him on the main page, and he advertises us with videos. We're planning to create more deals like this, and we'd like to know if CPW wants some of the loving? ----Happyface414 (talk|blog|contribs) 04:37, 12 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I/We have allowed the Portuguese CPW to have a partnership system almost a year ago, and it looks like it's running fine there. To me I don't see a problem with it here either. This is actually something we can probably discuss about at the next meeting. Thanks for bringing it up. --AdministratorNetwork staffError504 05:13, 12 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Board of Partners NEEDED.

I need CPW users to participate in the beta partnership system.

I need scouts and negotiators! Check the page for more info. --Happyface(talk|blog|contribs) 01:40, 2 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Shut this Down

I think we should just shut down the council and revert back to on-wiki votes. Here are the reasons why:

  • It's a big waste of time. We leave topics sitting there for months before we hold a meeting to discuss each topic for around 5 minutes.
  • User turnout at the meetings is terrible. Most users who attend just idle until they are pinged. With the traditional project page votes, more users have a chance to vote.
  • There's not much discussion going on in the meetings themselves anyways. I see more being discussed on comment sections on wiki votes than IRC votes.
  • The long meetings makes everyone bored and tired to the point nobody wants to focus on what's being discussed.
  • Nobody enforces anything voted upon and we just "forget" about it.

At least for now, we are better off with on-wiki votes. --LordMaster96 03:43, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

One and a half years later, I don't really have anything to add besides that we don't really get anything done as a group anymore. Where's the good ol' teamwork and the fun associated with it? May I ring a bell? --LordMaster96 06:32, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Comments

  • As a user who didn't really see need for a "council," I agree, it seems simpler to just vote instead of having a meeting where people come for a little while. Why have a body governing our actions when we can vote for it as a wikibase? -Wonderweez Talk 03:53, 25 August 2013 (UTC)WonderweezReply
  • I totally agree. Replacing councils with on-wiki votes would make the process of improving Club Penguin Wiki and CPWN much more faster and practical. There is no need to wait months for councils if we can discuss thing now. --Juca (discussão/talk) 22:38, 9 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree. 19:28, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes please. It's so annoying to bring up issues only having to wait a year later just to get permission to change it. --Chill57181 Talk Contribs 20:22, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
