Club Penguin Wiki:Policy/Blocking

Blocking is when an administrator disables editing for an account. It is usually done when a user has violated a policy. Administrators may block as they see fit, and for as long as they see fit. This only means that they do not need any prior approval before blocking someone and does not allow administrators to abuse or exploit their blocking abilities. Administrators who abuse their blocking privileges will be demoted.

Block evasion

Creating more accounts to evade bans is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught doing so will have their block extended significantly. You will most likely be caught because Staff have access to tools such as CheckUser that will allow them to easily check for sockpuppet accounts.

Early unlocking procedure

You will be unblocked early if the Administrators feel that you qualify. We generally do not unblock users early. When we do, the offense is minor and it is a user's first block. Unblocks may be requested at our IRC channel. If you are banned from our IRC channel for a different reason, you can not request an unblock. Keep in mind that no means no. Annoying the administrators further after they have already rejected your request could result in your block being extended.

Bans

Bans are different from blocks, and refer to when a user has been permanantly barred from returning to the Club Penguin Wiki. A Ban is usually enforced using a indefinite block, but an indefinite block is not always a ban. Bans are set by Administrator consensus, and can only be overturned in the same way. If you wish to contest a ban, it must be brought before the Administrators for review.

Other forms of blocking

Staff members have other tools such as global blocking, which disables editing across all Club Penguin Wiki Network wikis. They can also take extreme measures such preventing users from reading pages or even connecting to the server.
