Below is a council meeting summary for September 15, 2012.

Monthly Membership Raffle

Through a vote and discussion, we have voted that this idea is unnecessary, as there were no willing suppliers to purchase the cards.

Vote: Should we have the raffle?

Project:Ambrosia

Through the Ambrosia project, articles would be made easier to read and less clumsy. Tux would use his bot to accomplish this semi-automatically.

Vote: Should we implement Project:Ambrosia?

Change the background to "purple"

When the custom vector skin was introduced, a dispute broke out over the color of its background. It was argued that the color was "not even remotely purple, but actually #3f34b4, which the color of the bottom line of the pixels in the banner. Error504 claimed it looks purple and #0864af is correct."

Vote: Should the background be changed to purple or not?

Category:Items

" When you look at Category:Items I think you can tell we have a problem. Over 3,300 of our articles are in the category, because it's on the Item Infobox. So I suggest that we remove the items category, and just manually put the proper clothing or furniture categories on each article we make. Either way, we neeed to find a solution, because it's almost like the "Club Penguin" category that we recently deleted."

Vote: Get rid of Category:Items?

For Abstain Against
3 6 1

It was also brought up that the category can be kept, but as a "category container" for other categories of a similar meaning, such as Category:Body Items.

Vote: Keep category:items as it is or turn it into a "category container"?

The results are inconclusive.

"Did you know" section in the homepage

Users decided that a "Did You Know" section on the main page would be interesting. Its location, however, is disputed.

Vote: Should we have a "Did You Know" section on the main page?

Information namespace

Considered an obsolete namespace, "Information" was suggested to be deleted. However, it was brought to attention that this namespace could be reused as an archive for old "What's New Blog?" posts.

Vote: Should we keep the Information namespace? FOR = Yes. AGAINST = Keep and reuse it.

Additional IRC channel operators

Sometimes, the channel gets out of hand when there are no operators around. On the discussion, it was mentioned: "For example, I recently logged in once and then faced five complaints of a user (I won't mention the name), trolling. There are some non-administrators I feel are on the wiki's IRC channel often and can be trusted enough to use the right. This is separate from the chat moderator right." As long as the administration feels that a certain user would be able to handle this ability, they would be a 'backup op', given only the +o flag. They would not be allowed to have the Op status whenever they want - they can only use it whenever there's a situation where a user needs to be kicked/banned.

Vote: Should we have additional IRC ops?

Comics project

For this project, it was decided that Funny Pages should be used for that purpose instead.

Vote: Should we create the project? FOR = Yes. AGAINST = Funny Pages

Lighten or abolish some social-resisting policies

Compared to 2009 and early 2010, the wiki has gotten into an almost 'perfect' shape where most editors would find it difficult to find something to edit. The only things that can be edited nowadays are when Club Penguin updates and current events, and two to four editors can simply take care of the whole thing within a few hours. Most of the time, there really isn't anything to do on the wiki. To get users to stay we'll have to change our function from being an edit factory to allowing users to get together and be social.

Vote: Should we loosen up on the rules?

For Abstain Against
6 0 0

It was decided that users shall be given freedoms, but gradually.

Voting Policy update

The proposal would prevent users who don't become involved with this wiki anymore from voting. This would be the default policy, with special cases exempting this policy from being in effect, should it be implemented. The stated exemptions were: rollbacks, patrollers, administrators, bureaucrats, and staff members.

  • To vote, you must meet at least two of the three requirements below: Make at least 50 mainspace edits within the last three months.
  • Attend and vote on at least three topics in the last council meeting.
  • Have not been blocked for a Category I policy violation in the last three months.

Vote: Should we change the voting policy?

For Abstain Against
4 0 0

The idea succeeded, however, most users suggested no exemptions or rules different than stated.

Our current logo was suggested to change to File:WikiLogo.png.

"Around the Network"

An idea called the "Around the Network" tab for the sidebar was suggested by Shrimp. The proposed idea would make links between the network more conveniently accessible and noticed.

Vote: Should we use this idea?
