The old appearance of a banned forever notice

Banning is the main punishment in Club Penguin for breaking rules. When a penguin does a offensive crime, like hacking or swearing, the banned ID appears at the user. The time of a ban ranges from twenty-four hours to permanent.

Ban Times

  • 24 Hours: If players say the impolite or rude words.
  • 48 Hours: If players say more than one rude or impolite word.
  • 72 Hours: If players are cheating or hacking.
  • Forever: For serious occasions, or if being banned more than three times previously.

Reporting

Players can help in the banning of rule breakers by reporting them to the moderators, but if the player suspected has not broken the rules, they will not be punished. If this was used on purpose, the player who falsely reported someone can also be banned in very rare instances when a moderator sees them report an innocent penguin for fun.

Trivia

  • During the 2008 Winter Fiesta Party, was a glitch were if players collected the Sombrero Pin they would be banned for 72 hours for "cheating" so that they could get a members-only item while being a Non member. However, members were not affected by this glitch, which was fixed very quickly and all people banned from it got unbanned.
  • Many people got banned for saying "Ice Cream" because of hackers using the powerful hacking device, WPE PRO.
  • Sometimes penguins can get banned up to 20 times if a moderator does not ban him/her forever.
  • If players want to create a new penguin on the same email address, and if you made a penguin that is banned on that same email address, it will not let you create a new penguin until the other penguin's ban is done (it is impossible if you are banned forever).
  • One of the most common cheating related ways to get banned is to use Sanity Penguin's CP Trainer (before CPIP) or other cheating devices.
  • When a player with an inappropriate name is banned, they are given a new name consisting of numbers of eight to nine digits, e.g., "P12845434". The number is based on the ID of the penguin.
  • Microchip123, the main penguin used by the cheater that goes by the same name, was banned forever. He said that he would not try to unban it (unlike Sanity Penguin, had already created a new penguin, and somehow got it unbanned later on.
  • Some penguins try to unban their account by e-mailing the Club Penguin Team.
  • Sometimes penguins could get banned for no reason, it might be the Club Penguin Team or hackers.
