The buddy list is a list that can be accessed by clicking on the smiley face on the Toolbar. This is where you can list your friends, see whether they're logged on the server you're on, see who you have ignored in the Ignore list, or see who is in the room that you are in. Friend lists can hold up to 100 friends, although people have had over 100 friends. Unlike other popular online games, Club Penguin did not allow penguins to communicate via texting. The only way you could communicate was through postcards.
When you visit a buddy's igloo you do not need to ask permission as they are no chances to steal items. When in your buddy's igloo, if you clicked on their puffle, you will not be able to see the name of the puffle. This is not known why the penguins who visited their buddy's houses could not see the puffle's name.
