This Policy or guideline is still being written and discussed, and is not complete yet. It has not yet taken effect. You may suggest additions/changes on the Talk page. |
I have been proposing that we have a policy for early unblocks. This came to my mind because several users have been requesting that I unblock them early. Here's what I think the plan should be:
You will not be unblocked early if:
- Your block is 1 week or under, or if your block is indefinite.
- You've served at least 75% of your block - just wait out the block.
- You've had a long block history, either for multiple reasons or for the same reason.
- If they are known to cause trouble on the wiki.
- If you have been blocked at least once in the past month.
You will be unblocked early if:
- You have served at least 40% of your block - edit block reasons only.
- You have served at least 50% of your block - non edit block reasons.
- Two or more admins have discussed and approved your early unblock.
What happens if I keep asking to be unblocked?
Being annoying by asking admins to unblock you early when they have said "no" will result in your block being extended by one day.
Please let me know if this is necessary or if it needs to be improved. Feel free to improve it yourself.
