Hi there! Welcome to the Club Penguin Wiki, the free online encyclopedia all about Club Penguin! We hope you enjoy your stay here. To get you started on the wiki, here are some basic things we'd thought you'd like to know: Edit - To edit an article, simply click the 'edit' button at the top of the page. Editing is the act of changing a page. Your knowledge is the main reason why we are a large website. Articles are our most important pages that are informative and have information on different things on Club Penguin. User page - All users have their very own user page, or "profile". Your user page is your very own page, where you can describe yourself. Feel free to fill out your user page with information about yourself, and anything else you would like to say. User talk - Every user in this wiki has a talk page, which enables you to communicate with other users, even if they're not online. They can send messages to you, while you can too through the talk page. You can add your signature by typing 4 tildes (~~~~). You can also click the button on the edit bar to do the same thing. IRC (Chat) - The wiki has an IRC Channel, which can used to chat with other users in the wiki. You can meet your friends there, make new friends and ask for help if needed. The admins are usually active in IRC, it can be an easy way to get help from them. Click here to join our IRC chat. The Berg - The Berg is the Club Penguin Wiki's official newspaper. Check it monthly for as there may be an event you might want to take part in or the site admins may have important information for you. Others - There is much more to the wiki than just editing articles! You can write a party review, host your own party or even upload a funny picture! See the full list of things you can do here! You can also modify some of your account settings such as your signature in your preferences. If you want to learn how to make a cool signature, click here!
Please, do take the time to read the wiki's policies and manual of style to avoid any future problems and blocks.

RE: Licensing

Hi JucaSLP. I can probably make it so that a selection is required, however some users may simply not know the license and get confused, so I don't necessarily recommend doing it that way.

I instead recommend requiring a selection but also making "I don't know the license" an option in case they truly do not know. When someone chooses this option, the image will be tagged with a template asking someone more experienced to license it for them.

Please let me know what you and the other admins prefer and I'll be happy to try to get something working.

Hi. Sorry about the error on PTwiki, I've fixed it. Blogs are being discontinued on EN sites first, but it will stay available on PT sites indefinitely for now to give you time to make changes or find alternatives. RE: Logo

Hi JucaSLP. I apologize for the late reply. The problem was with a cache but it wasn't the MediaWiki cache that is normally cleared with ?action=prurge. The issue was with the CloudFlare cache, which only Staff can access. I reset the logo's CF cache and it should work again. If it still appears as the party logo, clear your browser cache.

RE:Widgets/Wikilog

Hi JucaSLP. I apologize for the lack of communication: we were tied up trying to stop an attack on the network and didn't have time to let PTwiki know what was happening. We have temporarily disabled several extensions on all wikis due to a recent possible security breach. We need time to review the extensions for security holes and to examine existing widgets.

Wikilog will come back to PT only for a short period of time while we search for an alternative blog system (Wikilog is outdated and poses several major security risks). As for widgets: for the time being you can create polls using the <poll> tag. YouTube videos can be displayed using the <youtube> tag. We hope to have widgets up and running again soon, but please give us time to check everything. I will update you with more information as soon as I have it. RE:Login Page

Hi JucaSLP. It appears this is a new MediaWiki feature added in by the developers. I believe it is to prevent malicious CSS or Javascript from being loaded on the login page that could be used to collect people's passwords. All wikis running the latest stable MediaWiki version (1.23.5) are like this. I don't think there is a way to disable this for now, but I will try to find out. RE:Editcount

Editcount is broken and not compatible with MediaWiki 1.24. It is a widely used and popular extension, so I'm, sure it will be patched soon. We will be monitoring its git repository for updates. The slowness may be a result of our temporary switch back to Apache, as nginx is currently broken. We are looking to fix that and hope to be back on nginx soon. First, though, I'm going to ask if merging your accounts will lock you out, because that's happened before with accounts where the person forgot their original password.
